Gambian home cooking centre will give you the opportunity to spend the day in true Gambian style and learn how to cook a typical Gambian meal.
After a short drive we will arrive at the 'Ya Boye home cooking centre'. Our host will welcome us and gives us a short orientation of the program of this day.
After we will change our cloths and will dress African style. Dressing and shopping like the locals is a real unique experience.
A 20 minutes’ drive will take us to Tanji market were we collect our local products which we will use for our dish of the day. Participants will be allowed to shop freely and experience the hassle and bustle with the local vendors. We will spend more or less one hour at the market.
From the market we drive back to the centre were participants will take part in the making of the food from stage to stage.
We will spend approximately 2 hours on the food process. Lunch will be served in a local way which means 3 to 4 people are sharing a big plate and participants can even try their skills in eating with bare hands.
Local juice will be served whiles chatting at the ‘Bantaba’, the place where the locals sit and discuss their daily news.

The day starts with an early pickup from the hotels taking us to Banjul to catch up with the ferry. A 35-minute ferry crossing takes us to the north bank of the River Gambia at Barra. Our first visit will be at Fort Bullen which was established by the British in 1823 for the abolition of the Slave Trade. There will be a guided tour within the fort premises and the guide will point out the strategic location of the fort and how it played an important role during the abolition of the slave trade. Few minutes of driving will then take us to Jerreh Camp which is situated in the dense forest of Niumi, in the North Bank Region of the mouth of River Gambia where we will observe the processing of the Palm Wine and Palm Oil. A taste of the jungles Palm Wine (Jungle Juice) will be experienced.

Both the driver Abdulie and guide Pa makan were very respectful, flexible, friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming and took good care of my safety. Our vacation was great! Senegambia hotel was very good, the food was great and the weather was great. All of the transfers and vouchers were no problem at all. The trip was absolutely seamless.
